Central Market has a new shop and it’s all about Taiwanese sweets. Started by Hugo Wang, the shop sells fruit tarts and home-made nougat in packaging that’s bound to brighten up your day.

A La Tart

You might find it just a tad difficult to locate Moon Of Taj, but find the KFC in Lajpat Nagar and head straight into the alley opposite till you reach a bright purple board.

Although the shop itself is fairly small, they’ve managed to make good use of the space: There’s a yellow sliding door on the right which opens into a small dining area, opulently decorated. You can chill here with your box of Taiwanese sweets. They look like square bars of soap but fortunately, don’t taste anything like it.

They’re essentially cubes of bisuits {more like a cross between a pudding and a cake TBH} filled with dry fruit. We liked the Pineapple Version and the Latte Butter. Matcha enthusiasts may want to opt for the Green Tea and Mango.

Nougat WIP

Enjoy the little white chunks in your Toblerone bar? That’s nougat and Moon Of Taj is making it by the box-ful. We tried their latest batch and found it a bit too hard for our liking {jaw breaking stuff, that} but we were told they’re working on a softer version which we’re looking forward to.

So, We're Saying...

If you’re looking for a slightly healthier alternative to a box of chocolate, it may be worth trying Moon Of Taj out. A box of six tarts comes for INR 500. Though we do think it may require an acquired taste.
