New in Town | Naya at Anya Hotel

A legitimate use of the word ‘literally’ – our new restaurant for this spotlight is Naya. It’s the brand new all day dining joint at Anya, which isn’t an anagram, but the new{ish} hotel on Golf Course Road.

We’re loving it, not for the word play, but the fact that it’s an actual 24 hour café! Oh, how we miss that time.

For when late night hunger strikes, Naya serves up a menu of basics done brilliantly. The clever menu sticks to the kind of dishes that unsatiated owls set out seeking – Bangers and Mash, burgers/sandwiches, biryani, and pasta. They make it good by serving artisanal durum wheat linguini, penne and pappardelle, along with healthier choices like the Apple & Feta Salad. If you felt like it wasn’t time to leave the bar yet, the drink list with spirits, wines, beers and cocktails will keep you in good spirits.

We were suitably impressed with the décor; it manages to never let you feel underdressed or overdressed for the occasion – clean, modern and inviting, with none of the fuddy-duddiness of coffee shops from the days of yore. Fittingly, the menu is modern and classic, all at the same time. Daytime dishes include an expanded menu to include popular items, like Khao Suey and Nasi Goreng. We know our share of people {we’re not judging} who’d demand to have their shot at the kids’ menu – Grilled Cheese Sandwiches and Mac & Cheese! Dinner gets fancy, with Crisp Fillet of Sea Bass with wok tossed onions and chilli garlic topping our list.

In the next few weeks, we’ll be watching the signpost for an Open sign to the Naya Beer Garden – an outdoor extension of the current restaurant, which will serve Indian Tapas, Grills, and bottle upon bottle of international beers.

Every once in a while, new is gold. Naya, we’re happy you’re here.
