An Emotional Roller Coaster Ahead With The Old World Theatre Festival

What Is It?

The 15th edition of the Old World Theatre Festival is back with eight days of play-watching across Stein Auditorium {Habitat Centre} and Epicentre {Gurgaon}. Apart from a spectacular line-up of plays, theatre enthusiasts can also sign up for Cyclorama 2016; a parallel activity offering comprehensive workshops for aspiring actors.

Who Is It For?

Those who like to watch the action unfold on the stage and those who’d rather be in the limelight themselves. It’s finally time to pull the curtain down on boring post-work hangouts.

Why Should I Go For It?

First off, these plays will make you think, laugh, sob, brood, question and feel so many things; get that stone-cold heart to beat for bigger issues, guys.

The festival will kick off with Ramayana, a loving tribute by Jalabala Vaidya to Akshara Theatre’s Gopal Sharma, followed by productions such as Doll’s House, Ladies Sangeet and Barff.  The theatrical masterpieces will see stalwarts including the likes of Ira Dubey, Sadia Siddiqui and Saurabh Shukla taking the stage by the storm. You know what this means? Double whammy!

You can also witness super-talented light designer Argya Lahiri’s directorial debut with Wild Track, and get a peek into the lives of drag kings with The Gentlemen’s Club AKA Tape.

These plays mostly begin post 7pm, so you don’t have to piss off the boss either.

Anything Else?

Not only theatre-goers, but method {and mainstream} actors in the making also have so much in store here. Cyclorama sessions will see well-known heavyweights such as Anurupa Roy, Anahita Uberoi, Sudhanva Deshpande, Puja Sarup, Sheena Khalid, Arghya Lahiri, Jaimini Pathak, Purva Naresh, Gopal Dutt and Neel Chaudhuri sharing industry insights with 25 of these aspiring actors.

Participants can opt for specific sessions or sign up for the entire workshop calendar; the full-day sessions include a ticket to the evening's play, just in case you'd like to know.
