On a Japanese, Korean, and all Things Pan Asian Salad Trail

Think de-constructed sushi {albeit sans rice, at one of my favourite Japanese kitchens in Delhi, see below}, the Japanese Chirashi is a salad, a meal, a bowl of crumbled sushi, and it’s one of the best Japanese salads ever. Korean salads come in close; considering the banchan spread constitutes mainly fermented veggies, there is plenty of justice to greens. Thai food brings the kick, bird eye chilli, chilli oils and pastes, yam, tam, larb, phla {salads} cover greens, rice, noodles, seafood, poultry, eggs and cooking methods too. Flavour wise there is a lot of familiarity, Thai salads have tamarind, peanuts, curry style creamy coconut dressings, and we love those. Chinese food here doesn’t boast of an impressive salad line-up, but there are plenty of Chinese- flavour inspired versions at Pan Asian kitchens. Whichever you choose - cooked, warm, cold - Asian salads are packed with freshness, flavour and balance.
