No More Boring Jewellery! This Brand Makes Gorgeous Paper Earrings & Necklaces

Papermelon is a sustainable, paper jewellery brand based out of Chennai. They offer the most lovely earrings, bracelets and necklaces made out of different kinds of paper (magazines, calendars and chart paper included).

The fact that this brand creates beautiful jewellery out of something as humble as paper. If you have a look at the products on Papermelon's website, you'll notice that nothing really looks like paper. Neatly assembled beads in varying colours, bound together using thread and wire is what came to our mind on first glance, but it's only when we looked at them closely and read the product descriptions did it occur to us that all of Devi's (Papermelon's founder) pieces are made out of paper!

Every product, from the Happy Couple earrings to the splashy neon necklace, is made by Devi who meticulously cuts the paper, rolls it and strings it together using recycled sterling silver wires and clasps (hey, we told you it's a sustainable brand). No machinery is used in the process and even the designs are conceptualised by Devi herself. We're told that she waits to find the perfect kind of paper and soon enough, you'll have a work of art ready. 

While all of Papermelon's jewellery is stunning, we feel that the prices are a bit too steep. Their range of earrings start at INR 1,020 and can go up to INR 5,300 too.
