Lash Out in Defence Colony market is giving us another reason to ditch the crowded markets on the weekend. It’s a pretty-looking fine dine place that spreads over three floors; Each with a distinct character. Our evening was made with the bar’s brilliant cocktails, live Sufi music and fusion food that it does rather well.

Ready To Get Floor-ed?

We were in the mood for a cheery cafe but as the night progressed and a little bit of the watermelon cocktail and Jalapeno Martini was had, we favoured the dimly-lit second floor with live music instead. Just when we were done chilling at both, we made it up the steps right to the rooftop. Suffice to say that we’d have loved to call our big gang for a night of cray partying at this terrace with trippy lights. Truth be told, we enjoyed what every floor had to offer in terms of ambience and you will too, especially if you’re the indecisive variety.

The ambience apart, we were thrilled to know that the place is owned by someone who is unbelievably passionate about food. If you find Rahul around, he’ll be happy to regale you with stories of the late-night barbecue place he swears by or the best kebabs you can find in Old Delhi. This has obviously trickled down to the staff that takes pride in making every dish with a lot of love and detail.

None Of The Fusion Confusion

The paneer skewers with grapes, slathered in Harissa were an interesting marriage of flavours and just the right portion size for a starter for one. Salmon Fish Cake was again a great spin on a shaami kebab only with salmon, lemongrass and refreshing sprigs of parsley.

A round of starters made us really look forward to the main course. Sue enough, that didn’t disappoint either. Mexican fried chicken had chunks of crispy chicken accompanied by smokey fried rice. Think of it as chilli chicken but with a Mexican twist. To add more zing to the meal, pair it with Jalapeno Martini, a brilliant sour and spicy concoction that was unlike anything we’ve ever had.

Two things you must try? Cilantro Margarita and Choco Lava cake.

So, We're Saying...

Head to Lash Out for an evening of boozy dinners… There’s a floor for every mood, happy hours and even live music on some days.
