Rich fabrics, warm colours, classic textures, and eye-catching prints—we’ve picked the top 10 places you need to hit up if you’re looking for a refurbishment. Hopefully, we’re cut from the same cloth.

Cottons and Satins

We’re thinking reds, we’re thinking browns, a bit of Ikat, and a bit of weave. Cottons and Satins is a haven for Ikat prints and silk weaves, along with stripes on silk, self-printed fabrics, sheers, and so much more. Special love for the patchwork fabric they’ve got—something about it reminds us of our grandmothers and their houses.

They’re open to colour customization (takes about 10 working days to process) and also anything you want woven (takes about 40 working days to process).

Price: Starting at INR 650 for a metre of cotton fabric and INR 1,000 for silk.

Sarita Handa

A great hub for quilts, bed linen, and decorative cushions—Sarita Handa is luxe with a capital L. Look for intricate embroidery on crisp linen, unusual check prints, and the famous suzani design, which is their masterpiece, in our opinion. They’re streets ahead of most when it comes to the art of embroidery, and we’ve seen that in every collection of theirs.

Hidden Gallery

Their collection of beautiful upholstery ranges from rich silks to cheerful florals and everything in between. There’s no comparison to the richness of their upholstery—whether it is the colour, the print, or the fabric.  Definitely on the pricier side, we say save them for the most important rooms in your house.

Please check out their line of furniture while you’re there.

Atmosphere

A relatively untapped upholstery store, Atmosphere is great for velvets, sheers, drapes, dual-use fabrics, and embroidered specials. Again, it will make you shell out the big bucks unless you score some ‘we only have so many meters of this fabric left’ deal, in which case you’ll get a discount. Since they are not into mass production, you just might get lucky.

Price: Starting at INR 1,900 per metre.

Talwar Fabriks

Talwar Fabriks in Kirti Nagar has a huge collection of printed and solid upholstery fabrics in leatherette, velvet, suede, chenille, and artificial fur. Most of their fabric is imported from Turkey, Spain, Switzerland, and Germany, and the best part is that they maintain ample stock at all times:

Price: Starting at INR 1,400 per metre.

Gamthi

Revered by everyone at LBB, Gamthi is a small store in Shankar Market that does gorgeous handloom fabrics from ikat, shibori, dabu to kalamkari, ajrakh, and silk which work perfectly as cushion covers. Gamthi stocks dog-har friendly fabrics too. You should definitely check those out.
