Weekend Fun: Gear Up For Heritage Cycle Tours Through Delhi's Age-Old Monuments

The information in this post might be outdated

Here’s some good news for all you enthusiastic cyclists! To make heritage tourism and cycling in the city a more prominent feature, the New Delhi Municipal Council {NDMC} has decided to introduce ‘heritage cycle tours’ in the capital. Isn’t that the sweetest way to connect to the city we live in?

NDMC is now busy charting routes that will connect one monument to the other, which would be frequented by cyclists in the city. NDMC has listed 10 heritage sites for the cycling routes, some of which date back to the Tughlaq reign and some that came up during the Lodi and Mughal rule. For a complete list of all the heritage sites, you can read more here.

Keeping our weekdays for work and weekends for fun activities, NDMC has decided to keep these tours over the weekends, which will be conducted by the cycling group, with assistance from Palika Service Officers Institute {PSOI}. The council is likely to release an app for these tours soon, which will give in-depth information on the routes, monuments and the tour cost.

We think it’s a superb initiative by the NDMC to connect the city youth to their long lost city culture and heritage. We’re already ‘gearing’ up by getting our cycles in order, what about you?

We read about this first on Hindustan Times.

An animal person who gorges on food, she loves the little attention the universe gives her. 60's flower child, nothing in life works for her without music. When you don't find her chilling with her streeties, her pug or her cat, she's probably wandering about the city or sitting with a book and/or a movie at home, trying her best to be evasive.
