The Spanish brought to world cuisine the concept of tapas, which, when roughly translated, means 'small bites' or appetizers. Both hot and cold, these mini-servings are designed to start and sustain conversations, because people have easy-to-eat fare in front of them, as opposed to a full- fledged meal.
This concept is easily translated to any cuisine, and is ideal when you're having a couple of drinks as well. Yibe, the new addition to the Anya Hotel, has adopted the very same concept, adding Italian and Greek cuisine to the mix, along with a well-stocked bar, of course. They do a mean Greek Platter, which is reminiscent of a mezze platter, where the usual Lebanese accompaniments are replaced with yogurt based dips. From what we hear, their pizzas are a must- have as well. Thin, well-done and experimental with their flavours.
From shades of blue and brown, white brick walls and diffused, romantic lighting, the interiors are nothing if not inviting. What we love is that they have outdoor seating as well, right next to the pool. We could definitely go for an evening by rippling waters- perfect for a second or third date.
An impactful addition to Gurgaon's already burgeoning restaurant scene, Yibe has potential across-the-board. They plan on bringing in live music off and on, to add variety to the ambiance; we're planning out dinner as soon as possible, we suggest you do too.
Notes in our Little Black Book |
Tapping into the potential of the concept of tapas, Anya Hotel's newest restaurant Yibe has us intrigued. A wide range of 'small bites' to keep our conversations going, as well thin-crust, whole wheat pizzas for when we're ravenous, along with well-made drinks? Sounds like they're doing everything right. With an outdoor section by the pool, and inviting interiors, this one sure figures in our top five list of places to try.
