Amidst Borivali’s leafy colonies stands CONA, an artist residency and co-working space for anyone interested in the arts and social sciences. CONA, literally meaning corners is a space where teaching, making and learning about the creative arts converge. This five-year-old space is housed inside a bungalow in Borivali and was started by artists, Shreyas Kalre and Hemali Bhuta.
Initially started as an artist residency, CONA in a not-for-profit arts organisation with looks at design, visual arts and creating projects. They have recently opened CONA as a co-working space to anyone in the creative or social science field, such as photographers, designers, writers, artists, writers, for example. Space is extremely unconfined, and people can work at either the desks set up, lounge in the library, or sit at the covered terrace area. The library has close to 1,500 books {sigh}, and you can set up a temporary library of your own for the members if you so wish.
One has to apply to get into the co-working section of CONA as they want this to be a collaborative space for like-minded people to work and connect. Charges are INR 5,000 a month, INR 3,500 for 10 days, INR 2,000 for 5 days and INR 500 for a day. Timings are from Monday to Saturday between 10am and 7pm.
