Tio Tilly’s baby sibling has popped open in Panjim and it’s living up to the Tilly culinary legacy in every way. Albeit smaller, Uncle Tilly's does good ol’ comfort food including great pizzas and thick shakes.

What Makes It Awesome

There’s something about pizzas that has to speak right to the heart; you can either love one or hate one. The folks at Uncle Tilly’s (Adit and Tylden) totally get us. This is why they don’t get wrapped up in cutesy interiors, out-of-the-box marketing or any of the new-age fusion pizza tricks. They believe in making pizzas and making them to perfection. There’s no skimming on cheese, there’s no rationing of meat; everything coming out of their oven is fresh and loaded.

If you’re in the mood for some snacks, they do fries, wedges and even pasta. Our pick? Cheese Olive Balls that were crunchy on the outside and with spicy olive chunks offsetting the gooey, melting cheese perfectly —  it's a great finger food to gorge on while your pizzas get done. After quickly polishing these off, we got ourselves Tilly’s Cheese Garlic Bread which reminded us of our childhood, long before any of us tasted artisanal breads or imported toppings from the hypermart. These breads are pure, simple joys. Jenga and other board games here add to the nostalgia too.

Honestly, we knew we were signing up for an evening of pizza gluttony and it was so slice to meat them all! Non-vegetarians, go straight for the Pepperoni or Tilly’s Special (this one comes with chicken salami, roast chicken, BBQ chicken and mushrooms). Because we were torn between these, we ordered a half and half. Both sides made a compelling case but Tilly special won by a small margin thanks to all that meat, cheese and a super yum tomatoey sauce. Vegetarians, we’d wholeheartedly (and with a full stomach) recommend Sauteed Mushroom pizza that has caramelised onions, burnt garlic and of course, mushrooms. Popeye Pizza with wilted spinach and feta and Farmhouse with pesto paneer and bell peppers are other great vegetarian options.

The pizzas all come in M and L sizes and are priced between INR 200–500. Happy? Now order away!

Pro-Tip

There’s no parking close by so you might be better off on a two-wheeler or with a takeaway.

Also, keep this hush-hush for now but they're opening a delivery outlet in Porvorim very soon. We'll obviously keep you informed.
