Durga Puja Special: 8 Unmissable Events Happening In The City

Durga Puja is a pretty huge deal in Hyderabad and the celebrations only get bigger and better every year. We wait eagerly for the pandaals, the bhog and of course, the amazing cultural festivities. Visit these Pujo events for good music, shows, competitions, killer Beguni Bhaja and Kosha Mangsho.

Bangiya Sanskritik Sangha

Currently celebrating its 58th year, the Pujo by Bangiya Sanskritik Sangha is possibly one of the most iconic and unmissable Pujo events in Hyderabad. They've hosted prolific artists from across India in the past, and the celebrations are always accompanied by lip smacking food. This year, they've roped in Debojit Saha, Tanmaykar and Deepmala Halder among other artists alongside exciting competitions and talent shows. 

When: 18-24 October 

Where: Keyes High School, Secunderabad 

Hyderabad Bangali Samity

From Antakshari competitions, quizzes to vocal competitions, there's a lot of fun in store at the Hyderabadi Bangalee Samity's Pujo and pre-Pujo events. For the main days of celebration, expect to see cultural programs like Band Kalyan Project aside from Mekhla Dasgupta live in concert. The celebrations are on until the midnight of 23rd October, with immersion happening on the next day.

Where: NTR Stadium Opposite Indira Park 

Utsab Cultural Association

Starting with a Mangal Aarti to commence the celebrations, the line up of events at Utsab Cultural Association is super interesting, with jamming sessions, skits by children, musical show by Lagnajita Chakraborty, dance shows and art competitions in tow. The celebrations end with a musical show by Chandrabindoo alongside astute aartis and prayers happening everyday, so take your entire fam jam along.

Where: NITHM, Gachibowli 

Bengalee Cultural Association

Soulful performances by Shuchismita Chakraborty, musical extravaganza night with Singer Shree Partha, games, fun activities, Dandiya and Garba nights are just some of the activities planned for this year's Pujo by the Bengalee Cultural Association. What is more special about them is that they've been active since the seventies in Hyderabad. 


When: 19-24 October

Time: 9 PM onwards

Hyderabad Kalibari

With fun competitions on Rabindra Sangeet, Antakshari, Rangoli, debate, fancy dress, and art competitions for kids, the Pujo celebrations at Hyderabad Kalibari Pujo are electric this year. There are performances by Avrodeep (Winner of Voice of India 2008) and Manoshi Ghosh, runner up of Super Singer and Pritam Roy alongside performances by committee members.

Sri Sri Durga Puja

Durga Puja at Ramakrishna Math is austere, with Chandi puja happening on a daily basis. While there aren't any cultural events planned alongside the pujas everyday, visit the gorgeous pandal at least once to soak in the festive Pujo vibes.

Prabashi Socio-Cultural Association

Join in for a super vibrant celebration of art, culture and music this Pujo with the Prabashi Socio-Cultural Association. With competitions for all ages, from kids' drawing, conch shell (sankho) blowing, group Antakshari, soulful songs, dance performances, recitations, dramas, and soothing instrumental melodies, the fifth edition of Pujo is set to keep your social calendar full. 

When: 20-24 October 

Where: Kolan Raghava Reddy Function Hall, Nizampet 

CBA Durga Puja 2023

Come celebrate the 16th edition of the Cyberabad Bengali Association Durga Puja with aplomb starting with a Kartik Bodhan and a Dandiya Night on the 19th. The award-winning Puja celebrations have a range of cultural activities and competitions in tow, including dance, drama, and 'CBA Got Talent' show as well, so don't miss this one!
