The term ‘Hiranya’ literally means ‘made of gold’ in English if you go by the ancient Indian texts. This brand, through its handmade and eco-friendly fashion, aims to achieve the gold standard of excellence in sustainability and give back to the society that has given them so much.
Based in Kalimpong, The Hiranya believes in slow fashion and fair trade. It works with local weavers and artisans from different parts of Bengal and Varanasi to create top-notch and sustainable sarees, anti-fits, jackets, scarves, and stoles made of pure linen, cotton, organza, and different kinds of silk. Every product is just so stunning that we were left spoilt for choice.
Anyway, some of our personal favourites include the Gold Tissue Sari made of pure zari and embellished with antique Tibetan metal buttons perfect for all kinds of occasions, the super stylish anti-fit short shirt in electric blue made of silk (a tribute to Maya Angelou!) ideal for a casual outing or party, the khadi kaftan jacket with jamdani border inspired by Amrita Pritam’s feminist ideals, and the simple yet stylish peach-coloured stole made of cotton.
