Sovabazar Rajbari
One of Kolkata's most iconic bonedi bari pujos, Sovabazar Rajbari is north Kolkata's biggest attraction during Durga Pujo days. Spread across acres of land, this rajbari with its massive thakurdalan and grassy front yard is the best place to hang with friends while soaking in the sabeki vibe. Hit here in the morning for the anjali or in the evening to catch the heirloom Belgian glass chandeliers being lit up.
FD Block
FD Block near Karunamoyee is one of Salt Lake's prime pujo hubs. Known for its elaborate theme, it is a fave haunt for youngsters. It is a definite check in if you're on the lookout for good adda spots (and also may be for a new crush). A decent crowd puller with munchies and nibbles available close at hand to the pandal, this spot is perfect to coast in the pujo vibe and chill with the gang. The theme this year (Dinosaur Park inspired by Jurassic Park) also makes it super instagrammable!
Durga Bari
Sabeki pratima, dhaki sounds, arati and dhunuchi dance, Durga Bari in Ballygunge Place is every young person's go-to place during pujo. A completely unadulterated pujo vibe with alponas and and ek-chala thakur in the centre, the compound of this pujo is thronged by people, day or night. Be there for endless adda, meeting new peeps and the hearty bhog that they serve here.
Maddox Square
You're not a true Kolkatan if you haven't been to Maddox to hang with your buds. Maddox Square is as essential to pujo as is Ashtami anjali and Navami's sandhya aarti. Best place to chill with friends, cousins, bae and beauties, Maddox Square is high on style and great on vibe. Every inch of the field gets swamped by people, and it's likely that you will end up meeting someone familiar here.
Salt Lake EC Block
Another one of Salt Lake's popular pujos, EC Block has a magnificent bamboo fort for a pandal that sits right in the middle of their huge park. Close to Mrs Magpie, this a great adda spot with a cool crowd. There's everything to set the mood - dhaak, dhunuchi, khichuri bhog and rolls.
