There's a new ray of sunshine for the LGBTQ community as The Humsafar Trust, like always, has taken the leap of faith to start the country's first holistic clinic with an Anti Retroviral Therapy (ART). The trust started a safe community and support group around 20 years ago, for gay men, male sex workers and transgenders, to create awareness about HIV, according to this report.
Adding to its good work, it has now come up with this clinic, and with the hope and mission of providing free counselling and ART therapy to the LGBTQ community at large. The purpose of ART is to educate people about the use of HIV medicines to treat the various infections that someone might have.
Because of the notion of them being a minority group, they're always battling it to go and get treatment. But the aim of Humsafar, is to break the stigma, and allow the community a safe space for venting things out in every manner, without worrying about being judged. The center is in Santacruz.
