Chicken poha, or bhujing, as it’s popularly called, is one of the most unique culinary creations in town, and a must try for anyone who’s open to experimenting with food.

What's The Fuss?

Ever wondered how it would be to have poha mixed with chicken? Well, you can stop wondering and instead, make your way to Agashi Bhujing Centre in Virar and taste one of the most innovative local dishes in Mumbai.

Created in 1940 in Agashi, located about 5kms from Virar in the outskirts of Mumbai, this dish had unparalleled fame in Virar-Vasai, but not so much outside the area {but we’re changing that}.

This interesting innovation is made using marinated potatoes and chicken, which are first skewered and cooked on charcoal, then fried in oil and onions, later mixed with masala and nylon poha {the best quality poha}. The result is a delicious item unlike any other we’ve eaten before. Those who’ve lived in the city for long and don’t mind travelling to the outskirts of Mumbai just to eat, have at least once tried this dish.

So We're Thinking...

If you, like a lot of us, are a complete foodie, then brace yourself and jump into a crowded Virar local only to be surrounded by greener patches while you gorge on some bhujing. In case you don’t wish to travel all the way, some good peeps in Borivali took matters in their own hands and have now made this dish available in the city too. So make sure you don’t deprive yourself of this delicacy.
