We dropped by Whishbox, an artist-led retail store housing stationery, pop art, home decor and apparel, to check out what’s good.
The shop is the size of a matchbox from the outside and the bright yellow exteriors do look inviting. As soon you enter, it’s a different world. It’s not a matchbox, and is definitely bigger than your expensive 1BHK.
Whishbox came to life a month ago when four college friends decided to ‘jam’ with their designs. The idea was born over a conversation at a Starbucks in Kandivali. Cushions from Printed Noise at INR 500, small trunks at INR 300, handmade pens from Mooch at INR 250 and diaries made out of khadi at INR 350 were some of the things that caught our attention.
We also liked the neatly lined-up rows of small framed pictures on a wall. These were borne out of a collaboration with 3 Instagram accounts with exceptional pictures. They now are for sale at Whishbox at INR 350. We absolutely loved the hand-painted T-shirts from Pulpy Papaya, an Indore-based brand starting INR 600 and Monkey Bridge, their in-house shoe brand which had the snazziest prints.
If you’re a lover of all things artistic or are an artist looking for a creative outlet, give Whishbox a shout. They are open to conversations and collaborations with people who have a passion for design.
