What Makes It Awesome

I love ceramic ware. And unfortunately am sorely lacking enough cupboard space to indulge my love for all things pottery (hello, Mumbai apartment). But when I stumbled upon Avvaza, a Jaipur-based ceramic brand, I really wanted to make some space in my kitchen closet. Here's why.

Avvaza is above all, a pure passion project. Started by Avani Jain and her partner, Samriddhi Baxi, it's come from a place of serious love for all things ceramic. Originally working at EY, Avani decided to give up the corporate job in place of starting her own project ie Avvaza. She teamed up with Samriddhi, a jewellery designer by training and mum of two, and the two started Avvaza together. All the ceramics you see in the collection are designed in house. Avani's got a young team and they together come up with the wonderful designs you'll see on their page. I immediately fell for their shell platter - a nautical-inspired platter, this one comes with a delicate pink glaze. And speaking of pink, they've also got a set of gorgeous pink shaded glasses (INR 960 for 6). If you're up for a splurge, there's also a green handpainted dinner set at INR 9,600 that is super if you're setting up a new home.

Avani is definitely looking to expand the collection at Avvaza. There's so much beyond just the basics, like occasion ceramics, that isn't too often found in the Indian market, and she's totally looking to explore that idea as well. For the most part though, Avvaza is about feeling good about the products you use every day, so you can feel good about your home and yourself. Expect to spend upwards of INR 750.
