Shortcut

Our favourite corner eatery on Hill Road- The Sassy Spoon has made a comeback as House Of Mandarin. Gather around, for we have the details.

What Is It?

House Of Mandarin comes from the same people behind The Sassy Spoon, and matches up to the benchmark set by the latter. While the word ‘Sherlock Homes’ written in Hindi outside gives you a quick laugh, the interiors will serenade you. Wooden partitions, hand-painted murals and the classic ‘handfan-on-the-wall’ trick is up its sleeve.

Chow Down

Helmed by Chef Amit Bhatia, the menu sticks to Mandarin cuisine {native to the city of Beijing}. Starting off with the roasted pork puff {INR 440} which prepared our taste buds for the evening. A perfect mix of soft yet crunch patty and pork well-done, it’s highly recommended. We can say this in one breath – the BBQ spare ribs {INR 640}, aromatic crispy duck {INR 1,150}, sliced lamb in spicy sauce {INR 640} and sliced fish in black bean sauce {INR 840} were the dishes we’ll go back here for.

Sip On

Lucky is a bar that’s blessed with a good mixologist. HoM has some of the finest cocktails at reasonable prices, and the bar is lead by Pranav Mody. Starting at INR 339, you must have Zhenzhen {chocolate green-tea infused vodka, creme de cacao and dark chocolate}, Mandarin Mocha {vanilla, whiskey}, shoi ming {whiskey, cranberry, creme de cacao} and more.

So, We're Saying...

Sure, we are sad about The Sassy Spoon closing {especially their breakfast}, HoM does bring in new hope, specially for the Chinese food lovers. Here’s to a new beginning.
