There's a beach clean up drive that's taking place till February 15 at Mahim beach to help clear the coastline and protect marine life. Since 2017, the initiative has helped clear up over 850 tonnes of trash from the sea. If you're wondering how this all started, we'll tell you.Mumbai couple Indranil Sengupta and Rabia Tewari were prompted to take action and clean up the beach front after they moved to a seaside home in Mahim. What started with the two of them armed with gloves and a passion for clean seas in September 2017 has now grown into a large volunteer-driven initiative. They’re doing their bit to keep our oceans and Mahim beach plastic free. They also work towards creating awareness around plastic waste by engaging with the locals and volunteers.
You can do your bit as a volunteer and remove all the litter from the beach. All you need to do is carry a pair of reusable gloves, a bottle of water, wear closed shoes and carry a hat or a cap.
There's no cost here, volunteering is always free of charge. Come for fun mornings, with great a sea view, positive feelings of giving back to the environment, and a nice work out!
