What is It?

Eating healthy comes with the ask for a huge personal drive – to make the right choices, to source the right ingredients and to prepare them. Seems like a lot of work, but it’s totally worth it! To offer some relief in foraging some hard to find healthy ingredients in the city, here’s a list of some of my top picks.

Avocado Oil

One of the biggest first-world problems is finding gorgeous, perfectly ripe avocados. While the search may always go on, I’ve found a good substitute, with avocado oil. It’s bursting with flavour and amazing to drizzle on everything, including avocado when you find some!

Available at Uncle’s Shop, Crawford Market or call on +919819620662.

Silken Tofu

Silken tofu has great texture on its own and can be eaten as is – tossed into your favourite sauce or in a sandwich. I order in fresh silken tofu from Ai Tofu weekly.

Multigrain Bread

Looking for an honest refined flour-free bread? Try Danz! It’s so healthy, you’ll feel it in every bite.

Available on Scootsy!

Jumbo Oats

One of the most comforting things is a giant bowl of warm porridge. The best quality jumbo oats available are from Express Foods.

Available on Scootsy.

Nutritional Yeast

Vegans, take note! Nutritional yeast is available in the city on Urban Platter. I love it for it’s ‘cheesy’ flavour, high protein content and versatility.

Karishma Sakhrani went on to make it as a finalist at MasterChef India 4, after abandoning a flourishing career in business development at Conde Nast India. She has managed to weave in her penchant for fitness and eating healthy, with food to consuming her entire self to developing recipes that are healthy, scrumptious and easy to make. She works as a consulting chef with several restaurants and food brands in India. When she's not cooking, she's working out a serious sweat at the gym, flexing in to yoga poses, enhancing her knowledge of nutrition and sometimes even eating a chocolate chip cookie. Because life is all about seeking balance.
