Mahabaleshwar is known for its strawberries and cream, but little do many of us know that there are some unique heritage bungalows that add to the charm of the hill station. This particular one, the Mount Unique Bungalow (no points for creativity!) was built prior to 1862 and is about 1,372 meters above sea level, in the midst of the Sahyadri mountain range.

The property is only a few minutes’ walk from The Club in Mahabaleshwar and the main town market, and also has a private nature trail for you to enjoy long walks on.

Almost a five-hour journey, you could take the local transport to the hill station or even drive down or book private transport to the property.

While this is a booking for one room in the property, the bungalow itself has two suites with attached rooms and four deluxe bedrooms with attached private bathrooms. The entrance of the main bungalow has a gorgeous verandah overlooking the valley. And the property’s living and dining area have antique period furniture with British, French and Persian artefacts on display. So, if you’re into period home décor or just want to enjoy some time in a heritage home, this is perfect for you.

What’s gotten us really excited is that the bungalow has a library which has a special collection of over 800 rare English and French books from the early to mid-19 century.

If you’re into golf, the golf course is a 10-minute walk away from the property. It is also close to Venna lake (where you can enjoy boating and horse riding), Lingmala waterfall and even Pratapgadh Fort.
