#NotATourist: Airbnbs To Stay At {And Love} During The Jaipur Literature Fest

The information in this post might be outdated

Ten-Second Takeaway

We don’t have to convince you about the upcoming Jaipur Lit Fest; the weather is great, there’s constant chatter about new ideas and philosophies, kullads of adrak vali chai {ginger tea} and, oh yeah, access to your favourite authors and their upcoming books. All this makes Jaipur a perfect getaway option to calm your itch to travel in the new year.

Here are our picks of cosy Airbnbs for you to stay in while you attend the Lit Fest in Jaipur {and three other cities in Rajasthan if you’re looking to explore some more}.

Agwan Villa

Nestled a bit away from the city, this property is great for some peace and quiet. This villa is completely run on solar energy and comes equipped with all basic facilities, as well as a garden jacuzzi and a tree house. Need we say more?

We were particularly happy about the camping tent and the windmill over here. Makes for great memories, for sure!

Magpie Villa

If you’re looking to be close to the action, Magpie is a good option. The mall, shopping areas are all close by, and the property has an air-conditioned indoor lounge that overlooks the garden area, as well as an outdoor patio area that doubles up as the dining area.

The Artist’s Studio

If you’re one of those who like a place with character, consider this. Designed by a French photographer, the room has sculptures, paintings, antiques and books that’re completely in line with the Lit Fest vibe.

Cameilla A Boutique Home

A house complete with old architecture and all modern amenities, this property is a perfect mix of the old and new. We liked the glass verandah, perfect to soak in the winter sun and catch up on your reading.

We’ve picked our favourites in Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Udaipur, in case you’re not planning to stay put in Jaipur.

Riddhi Siddhi Bhawan, Jodhpur

Check this out for their ‘home away from home’ feeling. If you’ve been living out of the suitcase and are tired of being tourist, live here to eat, sleep and chill like a local.

Dream Stay, Jodhpur

If you’re one of those who likes a room with a view, you need not look further. The terrace restaurant {yep} looks over Gulab Sagar Lake which is a small water reservoir in the middle of the city.

A Rendezvous With Nature, Jaisalmer

If you’ve added Jaisalmer to your itinerary, chances are you’re now really feeling the Maharaja vibe in Rajasthan. This ancestral haveli is only 20 minutes away from city’s railway station and bus stand, and the owners offer free pick-up as long as you inform them in advance. They also claim that you can see the Milky Way at night, but we’ll wait for you to go and find out.

Suite Room & Balcony With Lakeview, Udaipur

Udaipur and lakes go hand in hand. Check into this property for an expansive view of the city and its famous water bodies.

Beautiful Room, Deogarh

We’ve saved the best for the last. This beautiful homestay is an old haveli converted into a house with modern amenities. The property comes with a pool and has a lake that plays host to a large variety of birds in winter.

So hurry up and pack your bags. The New Year is here already!
