Gin lovers like you and me have a new reason to celebrate! That’s right, I’m getting straight to the point here, because honestly, I don’t see why we should even waste a second if we’ve got good news in these ghoulish times, amirite?

Okay, you get the point. So, what’s the news? Well, Indie brand Fullarton Distilleries (based in Goa) has created a small batch gin with 12 rich botanicals sourced from all across India. It’s an absolute experience, from what we’ve heard. This all-natural gin is made using Himalayan Juniper, orange peel, lemon peel, cardamom, coriander seeds, liquorice, nutmeg, rosemary, aniseed, cinnamon, almond and vanilla. What sets it apart, you wonder? Well, the name, for starters. Called Pumori, it takes its inspiration from the Himalayas, where Mt. Pumori is a part of the Himalayan range of mountains better known as the daughter of the Himalayas. Also, the Juniper that goes into the gin comes from these mountain ranges, so it’s an actual tribute to these majestic mountains.

The founder had a vision, to use only those ingredients that are indigenous to India and that can truly highlight Indian culture through just a single liquid. A labor of love, built from scratch in Goa, it started off with just a 2-litre still and then, after multiple trials and errors, they finally created a 20-litre batch leading to a 200-litre artisanal still. Pretty neat, isn’t it? Another fun fact – the shape of the bottle was inspired by school water flasks of old, made of glass. We’ve given you enough and more reasons to try this gin and we know that you’ll have much to thank us for. We’ll wait. Till then, cheers to a happier, liquid-filled life.

Pro-Tip

These bottles are available in Goa at the moment (priced at INR 1,750 for a 750 ml bottle) and will be available in Mumbai, some time in September itself. Till then, we dream of the mountains that helped make this precious liquid a reality across the country.
