Wine O' Clock: This Unique Wine Is Taking Mumbai By Storm

The information in this post might be outdated

What Makes It Awesome

Forget the regular red and white wines. Fruzzante, the world's first ever chiku wine is being made in Maharashtra and you must try it now! Fruzzante is the creation of a father-daughter duo based out of the Dahanu region of Maharashtra, who were looking for a unique way to use the chikus growing on their plantations. And voila!

Available at select retail outlets in Mumbai, this cider-like wine can be purchased for INR 255 per bottle {330 ml}. However, the best way to enjoy the Fruzzante experience would be to take a quick day trip to the winery itself. The winery is located at the Hill Zill Resort in Bordi, which is about 3-hours away from Mumbai. Here, you can take a tour of the winery, enjoy a session of wine tasting and have a meal at the resort with some more chiku wine. Besides the wine, you can also buy other chiku based products at the resort such as chiku chips and chiku shake powder.

What Could Be Better?

The service at the Hill Zill restaurant isn't the best, so don't expect much. If you have time, then you could also complete the wine tasting at the resort, then and head somewhere else for lunch. For example, Crazy Crab in Dahanu for some awesome seafood or Ahura along the highway for some authentic Parsi food.

What's My Pro Tip?

If you're planning a visit to the winery, then call the resort to confirm the timings and availability of the tour and wine tasting session.

Anything Else?

The Fruzzante team is coming up with more fruit wines in the near future, so you might be able to try those out too.

So what are you waiting for? Plan your day trip now!
