Couples that just need some private time, listen up: StayUncle is a website and app that will direct you to the hotels which allow unmarried couples to rent rooms ‘by the hour’ without batting an eyelid.

Pay By The Hours

Personal space is a luxury in a city like Mumbai, especially for couples. To make it easier to spend some quality time together, Sanchir Sethi started off StayUncle. The concept behind the website was initially to make it easier for travellers to find accommodation without a long-term commitment. However, after seeing the huge lack of space for young couples who face difficulty in finding accommodation, it has now become focused on helping unmarried couples find a room.

How does it work? It’s simple, log on to the website or download the app. For Mumbai, a list of hotels will show that can accommodate you on the specific dates. In fact, the ‘stay hours’ work in two slots {morning or evening} from 10am to 7pm, and 9pm to 8am, instead of the whole 24 hours check in-check out rule.

Mumbai probably has the least amount of hotels among other cities that StayUncle has a tie-up with. But the ones that are listed are legitimate and at least three-star rated and above.

The hotels are spread across the city, and include neighbourhoods such as Ghatkopar, Khar, Colaba and Thane. Hotels include Orchid Hotel in Virle Parel East, La Sutra in Khar West, Hotel Suncity Apollo in Colaba, Oriental Residency in Khar West and others. The prices are for those 12 hours that you’ll be staying in for.

So, We're Saying...

StayUncle has eased a lot of the problems for the young working professionals in the city. If you’re single, an unmarried couple or a solo traveller looking for a hotel that won’t charge you for the whole 24 hours, StayUncle ought to be your go-to app. We are also keeping our eyes open for  more hotel tie-ups in Mumbai.
