Cakes, Puddings, Fudge & More: Try Something Different This Summer With These Milkmaid-Based Dessert Recipes

It’s the season for kulfis and popsicles. But now it is time to move on from those g{oldies} to some new and different desserts, don’t you think? Here are five killer recipes using condensed milk {it is easier!} by Nestlé Milkmaid that you should try this season. You can also find more dessert recipes at www.milkmaid.in.

Traffic Lights

Because awesomeness starts and stops here!

Ingredients:

1 tin NESTLÉ MILKMAID
100 gm Butter
6 tbsp Cocoa Powder
Red green and yellow Candied Fruit for lights
200 gm Biscuits

Preparation:
In a pan, combine NESTLÉ MILKMAID, cocoa powder, butter and heat while stirring constantly. When the mixture starts bubbling at the sides, reduce flame and cook on medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes. Mix in the coarsely broken biscuits and remove from fire. Spread mixture onto a greased plate and leave to cool. When cool, cut into 2-1/3 “-3” bars and decorate with small rounds of three different coloured candied fruit.

Beer Pudding

For all the English vibes you need. Or to relive the days of Irani cafes and create sweet stories.

Ingredients:

1/2 tin (200g) NESTLÉ MILKMAID
A pinch Nutmeg Powder
50 g Raisins
2 Eggs Beaten
25 g Butter
2 cups Milk
6 Bread Slices

Preparation:
Preset the oven to 160ºC. Trim the edges of bread slices, butter the slices on both sides and cut into two triangular pieces. Arrange the slices in layers in an 8” x 6” ovenproof dish, sprinkling the raisins in between the layers. Mix together NESTLÉ MILKMAID, milk, eggs and nutmeg and beat lightly and pour the mixture over the buttered slices. Bake in a moderately hot oven (160ºC) for 30-40 minutes till the top is golden brown. Serve hot or cold as desired.

Coffee Cups

Not the kind of cups you want, but the kind of cups you need.

Ingredients:

1/4 tin (100g) NESTLÉ MILKMAID For Sauce
1/4 cup Water For Sauce
3 tbsp Cocoa Powder For Sauce
2 tbsp Butter For Sauce
1/4 cup Milk For Sauce
2 cups Water
1 tbsp Coffee Powder
3/4 tin NESTLÉ MILKMAID


Preparation:
Mix together 3/4 tin NESTLÉ MILKMAID, coffee powder, water and suji {rawa}. Bring to a boil, stirring continuously. Still stirring, cook for a few more minutes on medium flame till mixture thickens. Pour into greased moulds. Leave to cool till set. Combine milk, water and cocoa, and stir to a paste. Add remaining NESTLÉ MILKMAID & butter for ’em sweet stories. Heat over medium flame till thick & it coats the back of a spoon. Serve hot or cold, poured over un-moulded coffee cups.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake

The not-so-classic, classic cake that you need to try once in your lifetime.

Ingredients:

1 tin (400g) NESTLÉ MILKMAID
5-6 tbsp Sugar for caramelisation
200 g Maida
100 g Butter
6 Pineapple Slices
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Soda Bicarbonate
1/2 tsp Pineapple Essence
1 cup Aerated Soda
½ tsp Yellow Food Colour (optional)

Preparation:
Begin with preheating the oven to 180°C. Grease an 8″ diameter cake tin. Arrange the pineapple slices at the base. Heat sugar in a pan till it melts and becomes brown. Pour this hot caramel over the pineapple slices and keep aside. Melt butter, cool slightly. Add the NESTLÉ MILKMAID and beat well, add the essence. Sieve together maida, baking powder and soda bicarbonate. Add some maida to the NESTLÉ MILKMAID mixture and then add some aerated soda and mix well. Repeat, alternatively maida and aerated soda till both are used up. Pour batter over pineapple slices into the cake tin and bake at 180°C for 45 minutes or till cake is done. Remove from oven, loosen the sides of cake using a knife and immediately turn onto a plate. Serve it fresh to your loved ones and create sweet stories.

Chilled Lime Pie

Sweet? Check, Creamy? Check, Sour? Check, Fabulous? Double Check!

Ingredients:

1/2 tin (200g) NESTLÉ MILKMAID
Few drops Green Food Colour (Optional)
1 cup Fresh Cream
1/3 cup Lime Juice
6 tbsp Butter Melted
15 Low Sugar Biscuits

Preparation:
Crush the sugar biscuits finely, add the melted butter and mix well. Press this into a greased shallow glass dish or loose bottom pie dish and chill for 15 minutes in the refrigerator. Whisk the NESTLÉ MILKMAID and lime juice together until thick. Whip the cream till soft peaks form and fold into the condensed milk mixture, gently mix till combined. Pour onto the chilled biscuit layer and swirl the green colour into the mixture to get a marbled effect. Freeze for 1-2 hours or until set.
