Our Beloved Toto's Garage In Bandra Has Been Demolished & It's Breaking Our Hearts

We heard the saddest news last evening- the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation {BMC} demolished illegal extensions of a number of establishments at Pali Naka and Pali Mala Road in Bandra {W}. And during this drive, they demolished one of Mumbai’s oldest and most iconic pubs, Toto’s garage.

As per this report in Hindustan Times, about 25 establishments and more than 30 unauthorised stalls and hawkers were removed in the drive on Thursday {September 21} evening. For now, Toto’s Garage will be shut temporarily. When we called, we were told that they’re going to take some time to clear up the mess, but hopefully, they should be up and running once things are under control.

For all of those who’ve been regulars at Toto’s {guilty as charged}, we know how heartbreaking this is. All those merry evenings coupled with that great music are flashing before our eyes. The Beetle hanging at the top,number plates of cars and the fantastic service at Toto’s will be memories we all cherish. But the spirit of Toto’s won’t die, and we’re hoping it’s back to being what it was.

Meanwhile, as per this report, apart from Toto’s, the BMC have also demolished Jude Wines, Jude Cold Storage, Wine World, and Gondola restaurant among others.
