I had heard lots about Hero Sandwich and wanted to taste ever since then. I used to always wonder what is so HERO about it until I had. But it is not just the taste but the reason behind the name that makes it more heroic.
After World War 2 when the American soldiers got back home, food was scarce. The locals there used to make a sandwich with bread filled with cheese and ham/chicken for them and said - "The soldiers don't need to go hungry. Give this to the Heroes“. And so the name, Wow!
Coming to its taste, well it was worth the wait I must say. I ordered Chicken Cheesy Sandwich and Chicken Siracha Sandwich. These are Panini Sandwiches (refer image) filled with a lot of mayo and cheese. Siracha was a spicy version and was delicious. I loved the fact that they made it a complete sandwich box with panini sandwich, French Fries, a dip and a sweet surprise – an eggless brownie. I also got a fizzy drink to go along.
Overall I would give it full marks for it was not only delicious but well packed and fresh. The packaging was safe and not to forget, it was a secure delivery.
