What Is It?

Considered a beautiful weekend getaway, Morarchi Chincholi is a picnic spot destination for Pune and Mumbai people. A 25-acre peacock village near Pune, the compound houses peacocks, peahens and other local wildlife. For the purpose of sheltering and nestling of the birds, the tamarind trees have been maintained here. The Maharashtra government organises tours at INR 500 per head. The village is a model in Agri tourism in the state.

Other attractions at Nighoj are about 12kms from here so you can cover this, along with Ramlinga temple at Ramling which is sort of an architectural spectacle.

Where Is It?

Situated about 45 km from Pune and 185 kms from Mumbai, it makes for a great outing with your family.

How To Get There?

Since it’s monsoon, it makes for a great drive. You can either cab it or hire a car if you want to drive down yourself here.

What's Unique About It?

The peacock is a unique bird and honestly, you'll probably just want to go there and experience them dancing in the rain. It’ll sort of be like a textbook story coming alive. The chance to explore nearby attractions also looks tempting, specially natural potholes {we’re done with the man-made ones} at Nighoj. If you’re looking to step out with parents or your extended family, drive down for a day picnic here.

Don't Leave Home Without...

Monsoon gear, toiletries, snacks, sunscreen and sunglasses. May be carry some food for the pretty birds?
