What Makes It Awesome

The mastani here does not refer to the movie Bajirao Mastani but in fact it is Pune's homegrown version of the ice-cream shake. The drink got its name because people started remarking 'mast' back in the day every time they had a sip.

Gujjar Cold Drink House is where it all began. More than 60 years have passed since they started, still they continue to serve indulgent mastani, that is topped with ice-cream, fruits, and dry fruits, that will make you exclaim 'mast' with every sip. Their most popular beverage is the mango mastani which is perfect for the summer heat!

It's also known as Gujar Mastani House, so don't get confused. It's a little tough to locate as it is in the bustling market on the Pune-Satara road, so I'd suggest that you navigate your way through or you'll get lost.

Anything Else?

The traditional mastani used to be a thick mango milkshake topped with vanilla or mango ice-cream, topped with a few dry fruits like pistachios, almonds and cashews and then garnished with berries of one's choice.
