Masala Bar, the newest entrant on Balewadi High Street is dishing out the best of Indian street food with unconventional twists and plating techniques. What adds to this experience and compliments the food is the plush, class-apart ambience with a bar at the centre, exclusive VIP section, geometrical patterns on the walls, hanging lights and raw earthen tones of brown, beige and black on the walls.
The food menu, curated by chef Saurabh Udinia, is an interesting modern-day take on desi street cuisine. Mess-free and presented on statement cutlery, you must try the Bengali-style tele bhaja and puchka, accompanied with delectable bao dabeli.
We tried and loved their Lahori murg made of melt-in-the-mouth tandoori chicken breasts served on the bone with butter and cream sauce and marinated onion rings. If you're a fan of bhel, must-try their chini Chinese bhel made of crispy noodles tossed in deer chilli sauce and served in a boat-shaped bottle with a chain!
