What Makes It Awesome?

On a hunt to try something new and different, we stumbled upon D'Hungry Mogambo, a one-of-a-kind movie-themed restaurant in Baner that serves mouthwatering Tibetan, Nepalese, and Bihari food.

At first glance, D'Hungry Mogambo looks something straight out of a cinema buff's dream - bright, quirky walls done up with animated posters of films like Andaaz Apna Apna, Mr.India, and Hera Pheri; signature sitcom-and-movie artwork everywhere and anywhere you turn; comfortable seating with vibrant cushions and a food menu that features every dish through a popular movie dialogue.

The restaurant is owned by Varsha and Aditya, one of the happiest and warmest hosts we have met in recent times. Passionate and supremely talented, the duo will instantly make you feel at home, which for us, added to the entire dining experience.

Coming to the food, we ordered Gorkha-style fatty pork ribs, served with a side of mashed potatoes. The meat was succulent and juicy and unlike most pork ribs, this wasn't sweet and greasy. In fact, the pork had a burst of hot and spicy flavours which was a nice change after all.

Up next, we went for their bestselling mutton litti chokha - a delicious delight comprising whole wheat doughs stuffed with sattu and served with desi ghee, coriander chutney, mashed potatoes aubergine {chokha}, and a bowl of rich, thick gravy with mutton chunks. We thought that the dish was wholesome, belly-filling and had a beautiful mix of flavours with every bite.

We conclude our dinner with a plate of yomari, a Nepali sweet rice flour dumpling stuffed with dry fruits and Nutella. However, if you want to try something that reminds you of mom-cooked dessert, we recommend you go for their creamy, decadent kheer.
