Everything is ever-evolving in the beauty industry and trends come and go in the blink of an eye, but some dominate the year. 2023 saw a lot, from strawberry core makeup to underpainting and everything glitter to skin minimalism. Now, we can't wait for 2024, and here are the trends we think will dominate the beauty industry this year!

Derma Facials

2023 saw skincare enthusiasts on top of their game, with ample ingredient knowledge and reading beyond product labels, which only made everyone realise that, aside from daily TLC, our skin requires that occasional 'extra' pampering aka facials. While our parlour aunty does a decent job, standard salon facials aren’t customised according to one’s skin type, concerns and problem areas, which is where dermat facials come in.

Dermat facials, even though slightly expensive, are recommended by a medical practitioner who thoroughly assesses your skin and recommends a facial or skin treatment that’s tailored according to your skin’s needs. Additionally, such treatments work on a deeper level than regular facials that only make a difference at surface level, saving you money in the long run.

Pro-tip: Check out what dermatologists have to say about hydra facial and chemical peels.

Injectables

From Burgers & Botox parties on Netflix’s Selling Sunsets to literally my hairdresser recommending fillers to my mother, if there’s one thing that’s been the topic of conversation lately, it’s injectables. From Kylie Jenner, to Komal Pandey closer to home, a lot has been said about the use of botox and fillers, and non-invasive procedures are only expected to become more common as they become more normalised. Of course, it goes without saying that these decisions should follow due deliberation, a dermat’s sign-off, and we’d also recommend looking into how these things age and settle in if you’re considering biting the bullet. Whether you like it or not, they’ll be everywhere.

Quiet Beauty

If you too can’t get over the last season of Succession, you’re not the only one. What we also can’t get over is the character of Shibion who we all collectively fell in love with, and of course one of the reasons “quiet luxury” became such a huge thing. While it’s assumed quiet luxury is limited to fashion, that’s definitely not the case because of how much it has trickled into the world of beauty too. From 'old money' nails to ‘clean girl’ makeup — which essentially means makeup that is subtle and super natural minus any harsh contouring or highlighting. Think Princess Diana with just mascara, dewy skin, and lipbalm.

Blue Glam

The Pinterest report for 2024 is out, and it clearly states a 100% increase in an aqua makeup look, 260% in fun blue nails and so on. Blue is a super fun colour to play around with; it can be as vibrant and bold as you like or as soft and girl core too. We think it's going to be super popular with eye looks (we just need a reason to shop Colourpop, which is now available in India).

Bodycare

Yes, body care is already a thing, but it's only going to get bigger from here. We're already seeing a flood of body serums and oils in the market and are actually quite excited to try some of them too. Skincare shouldn't be limited to just our faces and this year we're channelling full positive vibes and taking care of our entire body.

Naked Lips

In the wake of clean girl makeup and colour-changing lip products taking over the internet, the vibes of 2024, are also going to be all about natural, everyday makeup, that looks like your skin, but better. And for the lips, we are predicting the naked lip trend, which includes a subtle peachy flush of colour (peach buzz being the colour of the year), essentially giving a natural lip look but more nourished and hydrated.
