Rolls, Dosa, And Rasgullas: Where (And What) To Eat Around Cambridge Layout

If you are in or around Cambridge Layout, near the Sai Baba Temple to be precise, stay on. You will be happy to know that there are plenty of places to pick up a meal under INR 500 with some places sorting your hunger pangs for just under INR 100. In fact, the LBB, Bangalore office is also near to Sai Baba Temple and we frequently pop over to these five places whenever we are in the mood for some good-old dosa or some cripsy samosa and coffee.

The iconic dosa centre should sort out all your breakfast needs with the fluffy thatte idlis, rava idlis, and crispy dosas. It’s a proper South Indian affair with regular patrons coming in for that first batch of idlis at by 7 am itself. The place closes around noon before opening again at 4 pm. Order a round of crispy vadas to go with the masala dosas. We hear the onion uthappams and shavige bath masala dosas are quite popular among many patrons too!

It’s just next to the Dosa Camp and if you are around Sai Baba Temple during the evenings, be sure to pop in here for their kachoris and samosas. Don’t forget to pack some Bengali sweets and namkeen home while you are there. Malai chom chom, nolen gur, raj bhog, and rasgullas are all in the house! Other sweets such as kaju katli, guji, and kastrui are also sold by the kilo. The namkeens include sev, cornflakes mixture, and bhujia.

Kim Lee‘s greasy, but soul-soothing Chindian food with spicy gravies and generous portions of fragrant rice should sort out all your hunger and cravings. At LBB, Chilli Chicken, Shiitake Mushroom Rice, and Prawn Ribbon Noodles, is the usual Friday lunch order but we also mix up things with Spicy Drunken Chicken and Hunan Fried Rice. Order Chicken in Oyster Sauce and Chicken Hakka Noodles for those ravenous days!

Need a pick-me-up drink? Senthoor Coffee’s strong filter coffee should do wonders for you. There’s no venti or grande here, it’s just one size and always piping hot and frothy. They have masala vada and palak fritters to go with your tumbler of coffee, be sure to order them. The place also has other breakfast staples such as idlis and dosa.
