Apart from the crowded streets, fruit vendors and a shopping market, Behram Baug in Jogeshwari is home to some really kickass eateries which a lot of people don’t know about. A stretch of eateries sells mouth-watering street food at unbelievable prices. We explored the khao galli of Behram Baug and were extremely impressed. Here’s why!
Get The Juiciest Kebabs & Mouth-Watering Phirni On This Buzzing Mumbai Galli
What Is It?
Kashmiri Phirni For INR 35 At J.J. Jalebi
We wanted to start with clearing our palate with something light and not very sweet, and the Kashmiri Phirni at J.J. Jalebi was a perfect choice. Not too sweet and not too bland, the dish had balanced flavours and was available only for INR 35. We finished it in a heartbeat and headed for a savoury delight!
Seekh Kebab & Paratha For INR 60 At Farid Seekh Kabab Center
It does sound unbelievable but it’s true. The restaurant has been serving only one dish for years and people flock in groups to devour the kebabs. Just for INR 60, we got 2 seekh kebabs, a parantha and a plate of chutney with a side of onions and mint leaves. It was filling, tasty and if you’re worried if it was hygienic enough, take our word for it {or just go visit!}.
Blueberry Snow Cone For INR 50 At Bawa Falooda & Snow Ball
Decked up with coloured glasses and a huge gola machine, Bawa’s stall stands out in a crowd. The options were too tempting and confusing so, we started with a blueberry gola since we wanted something light to take a break after those scrumptious kebabs. Even though we went for the small size, we got a huge snowball overloaded with blueberry flavour and masala. It was as Mary Poppins would say, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Chicken Shawarma For INR 60 At Bawa Falooda & Snow Ball
After sipping on frozen ice for some time, we went on our second mission, to defeat the delicious chicken shawarma at Bawa. Available only for INR 60, the shawarma was delicious with ample amount of hummus, garlic paste and pickled vegetables. We thought we were full but didn’t take us a lot of time to gobble that up.
Jalebi & Rabdi For INR 40 At At J.J. Jalebi
We went back to the legendary jalebi stall to finally have what they are most famous for, jalebi and rabdi. For INR 40, we got fresh hot jalebi topped with cold and sweet rabdi. Can’t think of an appropriate word to describe how amazing it actually was, but it reminded us of those nostalgic childhood days when we used to have the best jalebis every Sunday. A must visit!
Strawberry & Cream For INR 180 At Bawa Falooda & Snow Ball
We decided to end our food crawl with something seasonal. The strawberry and cream came in a tall fish like glass which was loaded with fresh cream, strawberries and ice cream. It was smooth, fruity and proportionately sweet. Probably the best thing on our menu, just for INR 180. A small tip though- one glass of strawberry and cream is huge so two people can easily share it.
