Yes, we definitely love food from over the globe, but let’s admit it- we always go for comforting desi food eventually. Check out these amazing restaurants that serve delicious North Indian grub in the city.

Chawla's Dhaba, Sion-Koliwada

While this isn't an upscale place with a stellar ambience, Chawla's Dhaba is a haunt where every homesick Punjabi will feel, well, right at home. The joint offers many types of breads around chhole, a comfortable centerpiece that is foolproof when paired with kulchas, paneer bhaturas, tawa parathas, puris and even pav.
The food menu ranges from INR 40 to INR 100, so this is a super economical, yet truly unmissable eat.

Chenab, Vashi

While it's still fairly fine-dine-y, Chenab's decor takes several cues from the traditional dhaba - divan seating, colourful fabrics everywhere, and tall glasses of lassi. What makes the ambience truly spectacular, though, is the sea view.

Another open-air space, Chenab's finest offerings include the Dal Bukhara (INR 235), Hazarah Tikka (INR 325), Dum Di Machchi (INR 415), and the Lassi Patiala (INR 250).

Turban Tales, Powai

Rooftop restaurants are obviously a favourite for most of us, and this one overlooks the serene Powai lake. Its decor is eclectic and is a boho-chic version of a traditional dhaba.
While you're here, you've gotta try the Patiala Fried Chicken (INR 263), the DIY Makkai tartlets and Sarso Da Saag (INR INR 275) and the Paan Ice Cream with Apple Murabba (INR 240)!

Papa Pancho Da Dhaba, Bandra West

A cult favourite for everyone in the Khar/Santacruz area, Papa Pancho is a joint that's almost always crowded. Located right on Pali Hill, it's also one that's super easy to find. While you're here, you've got to try the Jalandhari Mutton Champe (INR 515), Rara Paneer (INR 465), and the Prawns Biryani (INR 450). We've heard great things about the Phirni (INR 110) as well.

Goila Butter Chicken, Andheri and Bandra

We know, we know this chain seems pretty butter-chicken centric. But you've gotta give the vegetarian preparations a chance, too! We love the Mushroom and Paneer Naan Bombs (INR 250 for both), the 24/7 Dal Makhani (INR 260) and both the desserts - Baked Mango Rasgulla (140) and the Paan Cheesecake (INR 140, as well).

And, well, a portion of the superstar Butter Chicken will cost you INR 320.

Kangan

Situated inside Westin Garden City in Goregaon, this bougie restaurant is great for days when you want fine North Indian food. With dishes that we're sure not many of us have heard of before, this is a great, great place to experiment - try the Nadroo ki Shikampuri (INR 1025), Subz Chilgoza (INR 550), and the Martaban Ka Lahori Ghosht (INR 1500).

Finish the adventure with the gorgeous Gulkand Ka Kheer (INR 525).
