Have you ever placed bets on horse races? Well, I did place a bet on this place and won big time! Derby was one of the best surprises in quite some time. Lovely ambience and good service. And food and drinks will not disappoint you because it is that good.
Drinks:
-Domination: A whisky-based cocktail
-Smarty Jones: Gin based cocktail with pressed cucumber juice, aniseed apple, fresh basil topped with beer
-Moonlight romance: A tequila-based cocktail
They together are called Derby cocktails and they were good.
Starters:
-Tofu in black bean sauce
-Hummus plate (rice crackers served with chickpeas hummus)
-Vegetable chips (carrot, lotus stem, sweet potato, beetroot and bananas) served with salsa sauce and cream cheese.
-Chicken jalapeño tikka
-Pan-fried chicken gyoza dim sum
-Smoked mushroom galauti
-Truffle and sweet peas dumpling (very dry, can be skipped)
-Derby fried chicken served with loads of veggies and flatbread
-Edamame cashew salad, a must-try for people who like edamame
Mains:
-Shanghai bowl (veggies stir-fried in chilly oyster sauce served with rice)
-Katsu curry (rice served in golden curry in katsu of tofu) I must admit, it tasted like Sindhi kadhi
-Butter chicken
Desserts:
-Chocolate chiffon cake
-Silken hazelnut and chocolate mousse
-Hass avocado with honey, a homemade ice cream, one of the best of the lot.
Overall, a lovely place to be, be it a weekend party or a weekday chill!
