The Bombay Canteen is hosting its 7th (Annual) Independence Dawaat in support of Naandi Foundation - a non-profit organisation that has worked extensively with Adivasi farmers in Andhra Pradesh over the last 20 years, helping them to make the land productive and fruitful again.
Their ongoing work in Cheduputtu continues, evolving from raising money to set up sustainable farms in the region around Araku in Andhra Pradesh that will help these farmers work towards a sustainable future by providing them the adequate resources to grow their farms in a steady manner that will benefit them in the long run, to helping them move towards healthier practices with regards to soil regeneration. They're working towards creating a self-sufficient local food system that's resilient to climate change, natural pests and other issues they might face.
Bombay Canteen is back with their curated Dawat Meal that you can order home for a special Independence Day meal. The funds go towards supporting the Naandi Foundation and each meal supports the revival of 1/10th of an acre of farmland in Cheduputtu.
All the funds from the lunch go towards the foundation and its cause. The meal costs INR 2300 (pick-up from the restaurant) & INR 2500 (delivery) per box. Over the past 7 years, The Bombay Canteen Independence Day Daawat has raised 66.8 lakhs for various causes and over 3,093 have participated in their Independence Day Daawats in support of local charities.
