Shortcut
Chow Down
Propagating the idea of a daaru-filled, pakoda-induced monsoon, Bombay Canteen seems to have nailed the idea of a perfect monsoon day. Starting June 8, they are offering six types of pakodas – blooming onion pakoda {INR 250} served with red chilli chutney, the moras bhaji & aloo pakoda {INR 250} and more. Those who like to add something extra to the pakoda soiree, go for quail 65 {INR 525} and mutton cutless {INR 375} accompanied by homemade Boodie’s ketchup.
Does petha pakoda chaat {INR 250}, radish kachumber & garlic chutney and desi phish fingers {INR 275} with desi tartare sauce sound tempting? It’s on the menu, folks.
Sip On
You can enjoy these hot pakodas with some delicious alcohol-based toddy or the hot not toddy {INR 200}, if you prefer it without the alcohol. It’s made with baked apple & cinnamon puree mixed with spice syrup, apple juice and a dash of lime. However, if you do opt for daaru, Hennessey is the perfect base for any toddy. The pick-me-up toddy {INR 500} is a comforting mix of fresh pumpkin & orange puree with apple juice as is the Rim Jhim Toddy (500), house-made gingerbread syrup, apple cider vinegar and ginger juice, both doused with Hennessey. For the adventurous why not try the Canteen Monsoon Toddy – Hennessey, pomegranate molasses, spiced watermelon syrup, ginger and bitters mixed till it’s perfect for the gloomy, rainy day.
So, We're Saying...
The menu sounds like the perfect plan for anybody who enjoys the rainy season food and the joy of eating hot pakodas on a grey sky day.
