What Makes It Awesome?

Turmeric is one ingredient that has attained the top spot in umpteen research reports on superfoods recently and hence, I was really keen to visit this outlet named after Turmeric to see what novel had they done with this ancient ingredient.

The interiors were pretty; knitted jute chairs, traditional pattern prints on sofa covers and yellow lights adorned Talli Turmeric.

When I entered, I was greeted with their welcome drink, a turmeric latte shot. It was a twist to the haldi-doodh mixed with cinnamon and served in a chilled form. The menu included authentic dishes from all across the country; tandoori and tikkas from the north while idli and appams represented the South Indian cuisines.

Dishes that I loved:
-> Tandoori shakarkand, which was charcoal grilled sweet potato marinated in Jamun vinegar and served over some turmeric curd sauce.
->  Kozi ellu veruval, a very unique fried chicken Mangalorean dish which was spicy and melted in the mouth.
-> Goan fish curry, prepared with kingfish and kokam in an authentic style.
-> Dal makhani, as creamy as one would expect it to be. One can pair it up butter naan.
->  Elaneer payasam- it was unique as it had chunks of tender coconut topped with crushed pista, served in a shot glass.
-> Jalebi and rabri.

Talking about the Talli part of it, I had rosemary revival and long ka screwdriver cocktails. Loved how they had infused traditional spices and herbs in the drinks. However, since it looked like an all-day dining restaurant, it somehow didn't match up to the word Talli that they had Incorporated in their name.

What Could Be Better?

I expected turmeric to be the star ingredient getting used in different forms in the dishes as well as in their presentation but couldn't see any of that.
