“Vilayati” restaurant and bar is the new and happening party place in Navi Mumbai. It is a complete mix of Desi and Videsi.
The decor and the ambience are really modern which consists of some really unique pieces and sayings. The music is peppy and the place is very spacious, they have a mezzanine floor and also a dancing floor with a live DJ downstairs for all the party animals.
The management and the staff are really friendly and courteous. The service was quick. A special shout out to Chef Amol and Simon the restaurant managers who were really helpful in suggesting the best cocktails and dishes suitable for our palate.
Some great cocktails and drinks. They have some interesting drinks with a desi touch to them. Alcohol got sodas with different flavours. We tried:
Cosmo Goti Soda - Vodka with cosmopolitan
Pauva - Whiskey and coke infused with Indian spices.
The food true to its name is a fusion of desi and videsi. We tried some dishes
Kur Kuri Cheese Cigars- Crunchy from outside soft, gooey and cheesy from inside with sweet chilli mayo. Little oily for my liking but was definitely tasty.
Hummus with Chilly Thecha & Pita bread- creamy hummus with a kick of Maharashtrian green thecha.
Spicy Jackfruit and Mumbai Dabeli baos - the jackfruit bao was spicy and tasty with garlic mayo and the dabeli bao tasted exactly like the tasty dabelis we have on Mumbai streets with steamed soft baos.
Paneer Hopper - Soft appam with a rich and creamy paneer gravy. The paneer could be a little softer but overall the dish was delicious.
Chatpate Mango kulche - they also have a special mango menu out of which I tried this dish and I’m so glad I did. Mini soft kulchas filled with flavourful ripe and raw mangoes perfect balance of tangy, spicy and sweet. The kacha aam chutney served with it was to die for.
For main course we tried:
Thali pith with methi pitla- the thali pith was a little soft for my liking. Methi pitla is methi flavoured chickpea flour curry. Could be better
Matka Chole & Lacche Kulcha- Tasty black chole with the best flaky paratha I’ve ever had. Do not miss
Last but not the least “Dessert”. They offer a variety of innovative and delicious desserts out of which we tried
Ras Malai Tres Letches - Soft, light and airy cake with ras malai milk poured over it along with a saffron flavoured tuile. This desi twist to the Mexican milk cake is not to be missed.
