What Makes It Awesome

Kansar, a restaurant that specialises in authentic Gujarati cuisine has now opened up their first branch in Mumbai.

After tasting immense success across their three branches in Gujarat (Nanpura, Adajan, Navasari), Kansar-Pure Veg Thali has opened their first branch in Chikuwadi, Borivali West in Mumbai.

With interiors that will teleport you straight into a typical Gujarati household with strong hints of vintage, this 82-seater restaurant is just what the city needed, after the growing number of restaurants serving North Indian thalis and fusion thalis.

The idea behind Kansar was to spread the love of authentic food without wasting too much time deciding what to pick from the menu and what not to. As you enter, you will be shown your seat and as soon as you're seated, you must get ready to embark on a beautiful journey into the culinary world of Gujarat, one item at a time. With the only option on their menu being the Royal Veg Thali, you have no choice, but to experience the best of all worlds- 2 Indian sweets, 3 types of farsan (Gujaratis cannot do without either), 4 types of vegetables (OMG, we're drooling), dal, kadhi (remember the sweet Gujarati kadhi), an array of bread options (Fulka roti, puri, rotla, bhakari), plain rice, khichdi, papad, pickle, salad, and buttermilk! Yes, and did we mention that everything on your menu is unlimited? So, eat more of whatever you like, no one's going to stop you. And the best part? This thali is priced only at INR 420, inclusive of taxes!

If you're visiting on the weekend (Saturday-Sunday), you're in for some authentic Surati Undhiyu (we're sure your Gujarati friends have raved about it). This is a seasonal dish, so do check ahead if it's on the menu.

The staff is very prompt, all the way from placing the cutlery on your table to ensuring you have everything you need during your meals.

Visiting the restaurant comes with only one drawback- the wait time. While it might never take more than 15 minutes, since visitors often come here on an empty stomach, even those 15 minutes can be grueling at times. If you're one of those, just pick up the phone and order their delicious grub to your doorstep. You can choose from their Travel Pack, Mini Tiffin and Family Pack options.

So, what are you waiting for? Go indulge, folks!
