What Makes It Awesome?

East Asia – The Asian Fare – Its been long that I have had some really lip-smacking Chinese food but was glad to come across this new place. We friends thought to have our get together at this newly launched place in Borivali and am pleasantly surprised by not only its variety of food but also in terms of its quantity. The ambience is airy, neat and rustic at the same time.

Coming to things I had,

We started off with soup so I tried their East Asian Delight (Rating 4/5) and given the fact am not really a soup guy, initially, I didn’t quite enjoy the taste but by sipping the silky texture of edamame and hint of crunchiness of roasted almonds and well balanced spinach made it a delightful start.

So we went there just to try their variety of starters like crispy lotus root salt and pepper (Rating 5/5) was one of the best starters out there! The tanginess and crispiness by its name were nearly perfect and the lotus stems were pretty long ones which I had never seen before.

Paneer satay (Rating 3.5/5) was below our basic expectations on the taste due to overpowering of turmeric in r the make however we highlighted this to the team and am sure going ahead it wouldn’t arise again but the presentation was spot on and cottage cheese was large chunky and soft.

Kakiage (Rating 5/5) was again a stellar starter which was battered crispy spinach with boiled American corn and it is something best described as a side starter, a great to munch on while you get other order ready.

Veg Tamarind chilli basil (Rating 4/5) was what we have at other places as veg crispy with the addition tossed basil and subtle hint of tamarind flavour. I would recommend trying other starters as mentioned above as they were not only unique but amazing.

Crystal vegetarian dim sum (Rating 5/5) was so beautiful on first look. The soft skin of dumplings was nearly transparent, true to its name “Crystal” whereas the technique of it being pre-dipped in the sauce was something new for me.

Tempura Asparagus Sushi (Rating 4/5) & Avocado cream cheese sushi (Rating 5/5) were equally amazing where the insides were yummy but the wasabi sauce was not so pungent as I had expected it to be (still a winner as not many are accustomed to that palate).

Asian herb noodles (Rating 4/5) was something we tried at last in mains and not bad in terms of the quantity and in terms of taste it was more like spinach noodles per se.

All in all a great new addition in the area where not many options are actually available for a really good Chinese cuisine and this place surely has ticked its reward on ambience, food options, quality and most important its taste. I rate this place 5 and would love to visit again and try their other stuff.
