Most people I know have been to Lokhandwala Market to shop, and why not? There are brilliant shops of clothing, junk jewellery etc. and it can take you a whole day to scan the market upside down. What often gets ignored in lieu of shopping is the food of Lokhandwala Market.
So, here’s our guide to eat the best street food at the market and conquer everything under INR 500.
Although, almost everything on their menu is delicious, their cheese masala pav hits the sixer, that too on a budget. It has lots of cheese {obviously} and a yummy mix of tomatoes, capsicum and onion on top. Totally worth it at INR 110. If you are there for some time, try their royal falooda too.
Who doesn’t love chaat? When it came to us, we picked the classic pani puri at The Char Corner and it was totally worth the hype. The counter was also very clean and the taste of the paani was top notch. Go for it, without even thinking twice.
The most happening street food shop on the street will stand out because of their fairy lights and a crowd always bustling to grab a bite. Go for their classic chicken shawarma and it won’t disappoint. The chicken was well-marinated and sauces were fresh. Definitely, a must-have at Lokhandwala Market.
Find a little piece of Rajasthan in Lokhandwala, that too for INR 50. Chaurasia Dairy is famous for its sweets but Kalakand is the most popular among the customers. It was perfect. The texture, the sweetness and the quantity. You get 100 grams for INR 50 {which is more than enough}.
Probably the best thing on the list {because it tasted like heaven}. They use fresh strawberries and chilled cream that smooths out on your tongue like the best-textured cream in the world. We finished ours in almost under 10 seconds, because oh-my-god it was yum! This one is a must-have.
Remember that feeling when your mom would take out freshly-cut watermelons from the fridge and give it to you with a fork after putting salt and chaat masala on it? Wasn’t it the best? Well, now it’s available in a form of sorbet and we don’t see why you should miss it. Fresh watermelon sorbet is served with chat masala and salt at Apsara Ice Cream and it tastes just like childhood. A perfect, light and icy end to your food crawl!
And now, you still have INR 60 left in your hand. So, go but a vada pav or a nice malai kulfi. Or…you can just take the auto back home.
It’s not technically street food but do try the Twix Pancakes at Pancake Story while you are at it. It’s for INR 260 and tastes like…well Twix {which is awesome}.
