Located at approximately 2,800 ft above sea level, this highest fort in Thane, Mahuli makes for a rather exciting trek for people looking for some adventure near the city. All you need to do is hop on a train to Asangaon, and begin your trek.
Mahuli Fort is the highest point in Thane and makes for an exciting trek. A popular trek among the rock climbers owing to its complex shared pinnacles, the difficulty level varies from moderate to easy. Stones carve the path going up to the fort and the surrounding forest makes for a scenic monsoon getaway. In fact, the forest has been declared a sanctuary.
The trek begins at the base of the fort, and the view from the fort is worth all the pain (that you’ll feel after). We suggest, pack your food (but be mindful of the waste) and have your lunch with a gorgeous view of the landscapes. Located in Mahuli village, it’s approximately five kilometres from Asangaon village. To get there, either you can take a car and hit the Mumbai-Nasik highway, or catch a train to Asangaon.
