While most might think that Prithvi Theatre only hosts plays and that you can't visit it for anything else, let us take this opportunity to prove you wrong and introduce you to Prithvi Cafe Juhu situated right outside in the same compound.
Established in 1978 alongside the theatre (a vision of Prithviraj Kapoor brought to life by Shashi Kapoor), Prithvi Cafe is a a space that breathes art, community, and indulgence. From renowned actors to bookworms and food-lovers, this cafe is a confluence of vibrancy and diverse people.
Prithvi Cafe, with its earthy decor and colourful tree lamps under an open sky, comes across as quaint and rustic. Evenings are enchanting as usually accompanied by a flautist serenading the crowd (at least that's what we saw). Even amidst much crowd, the cafe still manages to allow guests some individual space even at larger tables. If you're wondering what to gorge on, we're giving you a plethora of options because choosing just one was difficult for us too.
Prithvi Cafe menu is a blend of comforting classics along with delightful surprises, to satiate every taste. Caffeine lovers shouldn't miss out on Suleimani chai and the Irish coffee. With Indian comfort food such as masala aloo kulchas, stuffed paneer parathas with dal makhani, and biryani beside dishes bursting with rich flavours and accompanied by raita and pickle, it's hard not to be impressed.
Mumbai street food lovers must try their sev puri, pav bhaji, and chaat. And if sugar rush has taken over your system, call for a chocolate waffle, apple cinnamon muffin, and the blueberry croissant. However, if you're just in the mood to have conversations with buddies or colleagues and keep it light, order a puff and a cutting chai. Other unique picks like the beer bottle chaas make the whole culinary adventure a fun affair, just like the cafe itself.
Whether the reason for your visit is food, atmosphere, or artistic flair, Prithvi Cafe will not disappoint.
