In every kid’s life, there comes a phase when they chase the adrenaline rush that comes with a trip to a theme park. You get to secure bragging rights, and talk about the coolest rides you’ve tried, the highest slides, and the most scary rollercoasters. While many stories cover trips abroad to Disneyland or Ferrari World, there’s something to be said for the smaller, local options every city has. Mumbai’s got quite a few parks in and around the city, and Shivganga is one of these lesser-known water parks. This one's just right for Navi Mumbai residents with young kids!
A small park in Panvel, quite close to the Panvel bus depot, Shivganga Water Park is designed for families, but is more so for little kids, sub 10 years old, if we’re honest. There aren’t too many rides for adults, but if you’re a parent who’s looking for a weekend plan or midweek vacation plan for your little one, Shivganga is worth a visit. The park has a few basic rides, like a decently long swirly slide, a tunnel-style slide, and a wider slide for sliding down in a donut-style float. It’s good old-fashioned fun, and is great for a young kid that’s not old enough to enjoy a full-on waterpark.
A few disclaimers, though, this spot isn’t too fancy, and is best visited on a weekday when crowds are minimal. Make sure you wear appropriate nylon clothing, so the family doesn’t get sunburnt. If you or your kids are picky eaters, make sure you enter fully fuelled, and pack quick lunches.
