Andheri is no stranger to the club/bar/pub scene, and has seen several hybrids over the years. From Bollywood-only haunts to themed restaurants, this is one area that really has seen it all. We've become quite accustomed to the recipe for bar aesthetics. Today, in a sea of industrial-style décor, straight lines and hardwear-esque design elements, The Terrace - A Maiden Affair has a made an unexpected move towards crafting a more soothing ambience, and well, it's clear from the get-go that this one stands out.
While the neon sign that says "Here comes the sun" greets you as you waltz in (why, thank you), places it firmly in bar territory, the view from this version of The Terrace is a far cry from the average bar. Millenial pink walls with gleaming copper accents give it a feminine yet contemporary vibe, and while none of the design elements are inherently "girly", it's a refreshing break from the hypermasculine décor that seems to be, well, everywhere else. Foliage lines the stunning bar, the entry and the walls, too, and breathes more life into the space. An experiment in soft tones, it's still got the makings of what it takes for the perfect bar ambience - rich accents, high ceilings, community tables, and of course, an actual balcony that has a stellar view of the suburbs. You can bet that this one's a sure-shot hit when it comes to date nights, girls' nights and brunches, too, and for the evenings, we'd recommend getting a cozy spot in the balcony.
The drinks are, of course, delicious, meticulously prepared, and impossible to fault. With a female bartender helming the bar, we're inclined to believe that there's oodles of nuance, a precision when it comes to taste, and no crazy rush in prep that can ruin a cocktail. We sampled the Ohh Jack, Mint To Be, and the That's What He Said (love that they turned it around) and the Maiden Affair.
We were recommended to start things off with the soups, and while we're happy to indulge in a comforting veggie brew once in a while, we didn't expect the world. Boy, were we wrong. The Mushroom Cappuccino was frothy, light and had the most amazing umami flavour, and we could've had it by the bucket. The Smoked Tomato and Bell Pepper was equally stunning, albeit more theatrical. Poured at the table on a bed of herbs and vegetables, its flavour is rich and tangy.
What we really appreciate about the well-rounded menu is the attention to vegan, keto, and low-fat representations. There are salads and juices, too.
With food, we had the Chicken Tikka Bao, the Wok Tossed Chilli Paneer, and the Classical Bruschetta. The starters were stunning, but a nudge towards trying the "Saniya Ki Pakayi Hui Khichdi" had us wondering why a Khichdi's a critical part of the menu. We were pleasantly surprised to note that this one was light, wonderfully balanced, and so, so comforting. We're pleased to note that this one is high-key gourmet.
All in all, the terrace has us looking forward to drop by when we need GREAT food to go along with cocktails that are basically mastpieces. Be prepared to create many happy memories, and for all the photos you're gonna take while you're here!
