The Tiny Tub's cafe space in Bandra West is where you must go this monsoon, armed with a book and ready to read in a nook. There's hot chocolate and desserts to keep you company, and they're all bite-sized, making them perfect to munch on while you ready and unwind here.
The mezzanine floor has two chairs and some stools, and a shelf full of books from the founder's personal collection. While the space is small, it's a cozy feel to it. The ground floor is where all the magic happens! As soon as you walk in, you can spot the counter lined up with bakes and cookies. There's Banana Bread, Almond Cookies, Crinkle Chocolate Cookies, Doughnuts (7-8 flavours, with 5 more coming soon!) Lemon Tart, Chocolate Caramel Tart, Strawberry/Blueberry Shortbread Cookies, and much much more. As the name suggests, they also have tiny tubs of Chocolate Mousse, Dirty Chocolate Cake, Brownie Bites, Dragees, among other offerings.
The idea for The Tiny Tub came to Chandni Alimchandani during the first lockdown. Like most of us, she too needed munchies to while away time. Unfortunately there weren't many bite-sized sweet offerings to turn to. So, she created her own business after ditching her decision to pursue a degree in hospitality from IHM. And, along with her brother Karan, decided to set up The Tiny Tub. Initially they launched as a delivery-only dessert brand, the cafe that's opened off Hill Road is their latest accomplishment. Soon, there'll be a kitchen in Tardeo too, as an attempt to expand their delivery radius to South Mumbai.
All the recipes are developed by Chandni, and we sampled several of them. Our favourites were the Strawberry Shortbread (one of the better shortbread cookies we've sampled in the city!), Almond Cookies (which are Chandni's favourite too), Chocolate Crinkle Cookies (a bestseller for obvious reasons), Lemon Tart (you'll love it if you love citrus), Chocolate Mousse (easily the best in the city), Chocolate Caramel Tart (with a sea salt caramel, yum!).
If you're wondering how we could eat all this in one go, don't forget that everything is bite-sized and comes in a 'Tiny Tub'. So, if you're calorie conscious this is the right place for you because you can eat a little dessert without feeling too guilty after.
The cafe also has Cold Chocolate and Cold Brew, which is a smooth and strong coffee worth sipping in between the sweets. And, they're soon going to add more coffees to turn this spot into a go-to for coffee and desserts.
If you need something savoury to cut through the sweetness, grab their Pesto Babka (also sized small), which has a nutty, fresh pesto anyone will love.
A small (60gm) tub of cookies starts at INR 125 and large (150gm) tubs start at INR 350. Tarts are at INR 85 and INR 95 each.
